Overnight Dog Boarding in Olympia

Olympia’s coziest dog boarding for your favorite furry friend

A Cozy, Kennel-Free Home Away From Home

At Carolyn’s, dog boarding isn’t just a service — it’s an extension of the care, love, and comfort your dog receives at home. Our overnight dog daycare and boarding experience is fully kennel-free, with couches, dog beds, and even the foot of our own bed open to your pup. If your dog sleeps in a crate at home, no problem — we’re happy to follow their routine. Just bring their crate along!

Your dog’s stay takes place in our in-home environment, where staff is onsite 24/7 to monitor your pup’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing. Whether your dog is playful and social, or shy and observant, we tailor their experience to meet their individual needs in our structured, cage-free community.

Why Board With Us?

Dog boarding can be stressful — especially in noisy, crowded kennels. That’s why we’ve designed a calm, supervised, and home-like setting for our canine guests. Since all dogs boarding at The Retreat have already attended daycare with us, staying overnight feels natural and familiar. With over 5,700 square feet of outdoor play space during the day, dedicated quiet areas for senior or small dogs, and support programs like Study Hall training, your dog gets personalized care — day and night.

Boarding Orientation

Before a longer overnight stay, all dogs must complete a one- to two-night Boarding Orientation. For new dogs, Boarding Orientation is an essential step in welcoming them to our unique, communal environment, as we help them relax and get comfortable free-sleeping with their new doggy friends. Even well-adjusted daycare regulars can experience anxiety when sleeping away from home for the first time, so Boarding Orientation helps us ensure a safe and comfortable fit for your pup — and for the rest of our pack. For pups who have a tough time settling in on their first overnight, we are always happy to welcome them for repeated Boarding Orientations until they are more familiar and able to relax, and from there can be approved for longer stays.

Boarding Policies & Pricing

All dogs new to Carolyn’s must attend a Meet & Greet, at least one full day of daycare, and complete a successful Boarding Orientation before booking longer stays. Dogs who haven’t visited us in over three months may need to repeat the orientation process.

We also require that all boarding dogs have a reliable emergency contact on file, in case of rare, worst case scenarios such as injury or contagious illness, when our communal environment can no longer support the best care for your dog.

what if i need to board my dog right away?

For dogs who are new to our community and environment, we typically recommend at least two weeks between Meet and Greet and their first longer boarding stay, which allows time for two or three daycare days and a one- to two-night Boarding Orientation. We find that the more familiar a dog is with us, our pack, and our space, the more likely it is that they will be comfortable and happy during a longer boarding visit. Planning ahead also allows for time to repeat Boarding Orientation if your pup has a hard time settling in on their first night.

Dogs who are exceptionally well-suited to our kennel-free environment may be able to board for a longer stay within three days: day one for the Meet and Greet, day two for their first day of daycare, and days three to four for their Boarding Orientation, with the ability to stay on for a longer stay if that first night has gone well. In the case of a “fast-track” first dog boarding visit, we do require the ability to place a dog in Study Hall training sessions as needed. If you have a pressing timeline, we are happy to work with you to assess the best option for you and your pup!
